Kilmaurs buildings welcome visitors for Doors Open Day
25 AugustThere’s a chance to look behind the doors of some of Kilmaurs and Ayrshire’s most iconic and interesting buildings as part of the annual Doors Open Day event, which is being held across Scotland during September.
Several properties will be open over the weekend of Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th September, offering a rare chance to see around the buildings.
Rowallan Old Castle – will be open on both the Saturday and Sunday for pre-booked tours - s spaces on the tours are limited, all visitors must pre-book by phoning 0131 550 7603 before Wednesday 31 August. Rowallan is a magnificent Renaissance mansion house c. 1560 on a site with origins dating back to the Bronze Age. A castle of the Mure family 13th to 17th centuries, charting changing styles of architecture from mediaeval castle to country house.
Properties across Ayrshire, and across Scotland will be taking part in the Doors Open Days events over several weekends in September.
